Governments Want us to Believe we are Empowered

November 24, 2017 – Lee Friday …… On November 18th, citizens in London, Ontario cast their ballots in the annual ‘Neighbourhood Decision Making Program.’ In fact, this program is nothing more than a tiny bone ($250,000) – less than one tenth of one percent of the City’s budget – with strings attached, thrown to taxpayers. London City Council spends $5.9 million for two bridges for the city’s cycling trail network. This money could have been used to reduce poverty in London, that is, if these politicians were actually serious about their previous commitment to do so.

August 18, 2017 – Lee Friday …… Few people, and certainly not politicians, would dare say that cycling trails and bridges are more desirable than poverty reduction. Yet, a handout of $5.9 million to cyclists means $5.9 million less for poverty reduction. Continue reading →

Students and parents blindsided by government bus policy

May 23, 2017 – Lee Friday …… Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services (STS) is the government agency responsible for “coordination” of school bussing.
