The Heroines of British Abolition

August 28, 2019 – Lawrence Reed …… Only men petitioned Parliament before 1825. The custom was broken in that year when 2,000 members of Townsend’s Female Society for Birmingham signed a petition demanding that the House of Commons enact an emancipation bill.
